TWYCROSS, a parish in the hundred of SPARKENHOE, county of LEICESTER, 4 miles (W. N. W.) from Market-Bosworth,' containing 373 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage of OrtoQ on the Hill, in the archdeaconry of Leicester, and diocese of Lincoln. The church is dedicated to St. James. Twycross is in the honour of Tutbury, duchy of Lancaster, and within the jurisdiction of a court of pleas held at Tutbury every third Tuesday, for the recovery of debts tinder 40s. Charles Jennings, in 1773, bequeathed £333. 6. S., directing the interest to be applied in support of a school for poor children.
