UGGLEBARNBY, a chapelry in the parish of
WHITBY, liberty of WHITBY-STRAND, North riding of
the county of YORK, 4 miles (S. S. W.) from Whitby,
containing 428 inhabitants. The living is; a perpetual
curacy, in the archdeaconry of Cleveland, and diocese
of York, endowed with £1000 royal bounty, and in
the patronage of the Archbishop of York. The chapel
Was built in 1137, by Nicholas, abbot of Whitby.
