WALBERTON, a parish in the hundred of AVISFORD, rape of ARUNDEL, county of SUSSEX, 3 miles (W. S.W.) from Arundel, containing 687 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, with that of Yapton united, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Chichester, rated in the king's books at £10. 19. 2., and in the patronage of the Bishop of Chichester. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, is principally in the early style of English architecture. John Nash, in 1732, bequeathed a house and land, with a rent-charge of £12, for teaching eighteen poor children.
