WALCOT, a parish in the wapentake of AVELAND, parts of KESTEVEN, county of LINCOLN, 1 mile (N. W.) from Falkingham, containing 152 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, and in the patronage of Sir G. Heathcote, Bart. The church, dedicated to St. Nicholas, is principally in the decorated style of English architecture, with a tower surmounted by a fine crocketed spire; the clerestory is in the later style. On the edge of the fens is a powerful mineral spring of some repute. The monks of Sempringham abbey had formerly a prison here.
