WALSHAM (SOUTH), a village in the hundred of WALSHAM, county of NORFOLK, 2 miles (N.W. by W.) from Acle, comprising the parishes of St. Lawrence and St. Mary, in the archdeaconry and dioeese of Norwich, and containing 524 inhabitants. The living of St. Lawrence's is a rectory, rated in the king's books at £13.6.8., and in the patronage of the President and Fellows of Queen's College, Cambridge: that of St. Mary's is a discharged vicarage, rated in the king's books at £ 5, and in the patronage of the Bishop of Norwich, by lapse. The church of St. Mary only remains.
