WALTHAM (LITTLE), a parish in the hundred of CHELMSFORD, county of ESSEX, 4 miles (N. by E.) from Chelmsford, containing 620 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in. the archdeaconry of Essex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £ 11.10., and in the patronage of T. L. Hodges, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Martin. There is a place of worship for Independents. A school is supported by annual subscriptions, amounting to about £20. The village is situated on the river Chelmer, and on the high road from Chelmsford to Bury and Norwich.
