WARDLEY, a parish in the soke of OAKHAM, county of RUTLAND, 2 miles (W. by N.) from Uppingham, containing 52 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, with the vicarage of Belton annexed, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £10. 16., and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The parish is bounded on the south by the river Eye, which separates it from Leices- tershire.
