WELLOW (EAST), a parish in the hundred of
THORNGATE, Andover division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON,
3 miles (W.) from Romsey, containing with
the tything of Embley, 288 inhabitants. The living is
a vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester,
rated in the king's books at £5, and in the patronage
of W. E. Nightingale, Esq. The church is dedicated
to St. Margaret. There is a place of worship for
Wesleyan Methodists.
