WHILTON, a parish in the hundred of NOBOTTLEGROVE, county of NORTHAMPTON, 5 miles (E. N.E.) from Daventry, containing 370 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £12. 16. 3. Mrs. Rose was patroness in 1814. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew. The old Watlingstreet, and the Grand Junction canal, pass through the parish. Jonathan Emery, in 1768, bequeathed £500, and Judith Worsfold £ 1000 three per cent, consols., producing together about £57 per annum, which is applied for teaching from seventy to eighty children.
