WHITACRE (NETHER), a parish in the Atherstone division of the hundred of HEMLINGFORD, county of WARWICK, 3 miles (N.E.) from Coleshill, containing 4Q8 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Coventry, and diocese of Lich» field and Coventry, endowed with £400 private bene» faction, and £400 royal bounty, and in the patronage of Earl Howe. The church is dedicated to St. Giles. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. The river Tame runs through the parish. Charles Jennins, Esq., in 1775, bequeathed one-third of the interest of £1000 in support of a school.
