WIGGINTON, a chapelry in that part of the parish of TAMWORTH which is in the southern division of the hundred of OFFLOW, county of STAFFORD, 1 mile (N.) from Tamworth, containing 747 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Stafford, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, endowed with £800 royal bounty, and £1400 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Vicar of Tamworth. The chapel is dedicated to St. Leonard. Thomas Barnes, in 1717, gave property, of the value of about £5 per annum, in support of a school.
