WILNECOTE, a chapelry in that part of the parish of TAMWORTH which is in the Tamworth division of the hundred of HEMLINGFORD, county of WARWICK, 2 miles (S. E. by S.) from Tamworth, containing, with the hamlet of Dosthill, 653 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, with that of Tamworth, in the archdeaconry of Coventry, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, endowed with £1000 royal bounty, and £1200 parliamentary grant. The chapel, dedicated to the Holy Trinity, has lately received an addition of four hundred and eighty-two sittings, of which four hundred and fifty are free, the Incorporated Society for the enlargement of churches and chapels having granted £300 towards defraying the expense. Collieries and brick and lime kilns have been established in this chapelry of late years.
