WINSFORD, a parish in the hundred of WILLITON-and-FREEMANNERS,
county of SOMERSET, 5 miles (N.
by W.) from Dulverton, containing 518 inhabitants.
The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Taunton,
and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's
books at £14. 13. 9., and in the patronage of the Master
and Fellows of Emanuel College, Cambridge. The
church is dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene. There
is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. The
river Ax runs through the parish.
