WINSTER, a chapelry in that part of the parish of KENDAL which is in KENDAL ward, county of WESTMORLAND, 7 miles (w.) from Kendal. The population is returned with the township of Undermilbeck, which is in the parish of Windermere. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Richmond, and diocese of Chester, endowed with £400 private benefaction, A 800 royal bounty, and £300 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Landowners. This chapelry once formed part of the chapelry of Crook, and the inhabitants still contribute towards the reparation of that chapel.
