WINTHORPE, a parish in the Marsh division of the wapentake of CANDLESHOE, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 11 miles (E. by N.) from Spilsby, containing 233 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, united, in 1729, to that of Burgh in the Marsh, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £8, and endowed with £200 royal bounty, and £800 parliamentary grant. The church is dedicated to St. Mary.
