WINTHORPE, a parish in the northern division of the wapentake of NEWARK, county of NOTTINGHAM, 1 mile (N. N. E.) from Newark, containing 235 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Nottingham, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £7. 11. 0., and in the patronage of the Rev. W. Rastall. The church is dedicated to All Saints. The village is situated on the banks of the Trent: the Fosse road passes through the parish.
