WISHFORD (GREAT), a parish in the hundred ot BRANCH-and-DOLE, county of WILTS, 2 miles (N.N. W.) from Wilton, containing 372 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Salisbury, rated in the king's books at £17 10. 7, and in the patronage of the Earl of Pembroke. The church is dedicated to St. Giles. Sir Richard Howe, in 1722 gave a rent-charge of £32 in support of a school for poor boys and girls.
