WITTENHAM (LITTLE), a parish in the hundred of OCK, county of BERKS, 4 miles (N. W. by N.) from Wallingford, containing 107 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Berks, and diocese of Salisbury, rated in the king's- books at £17-10,; and in the patronage of the Rev. F. J. Billiard.. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. The parish is bounded on the north by the Isis, which there receives the smaller river Thame from the opposite side. Sinodun hill, in the neighbourhood, is surrounded by an ancient intrenchment, supposed to be of British origin, and to have been afterwards occupied by the tfo- National school is supported by voluntary contributions.
