WOOTTON, a parish in the northern division of the wapentake of YARBOROUGH, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 5 miles (S. B.) from Barton upon Humber, containing 397 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £4. 18. 4., endowed with £200 royal bounty. William Holt, Esq. was patron in 1814. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. Several trifling bequests are applied for teaching poor children.
