WOOTTON-RIVERS, a parish in the hundred of KINWARDSTONE, county of WILTS, 3 miles (N. E.) from Pewsey, containing 400 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Wilts, and diocese of Salisbury, rated in the king's books at £7. 10. 5., and in the alternate patronage of the Master and Fellows of St. John's College, Cambridge, and the Principal and Fellows of Brasenose College, Oxford: but it must be given to one who has been a scholar, at either, from Somersetshire. The clmrch is dedicated to St. Andrew.
