WORFIELD, a parish in the Hales-Owen division of the hundred of BRIMSTREE, county of SALOP, 3 miles (N. B. by B.) from Bridgenorth, containing 1582 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Stafford, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £16. 15., en- dowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of W. Y. Davenport, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. William Lloyd and Thomas Parker, in 1613, conveyed certain estates, now producing an annual income of about £46, in trust for the maintenance of a school, in which thirteen children are educated.
