WORPLESDON, a parish in the first division of the hundred of WOKING, county of SURREY, 3 miles (N. N. W.) from Guildford, containing, with the tythings of Burgham, Perry-Hill, West-End, and Wyke, 1276 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Surrey, and diocese of Winchester, rated in the king's books at £24. 13. 9., and in the patronage of the Provost and Fellows of Eton College. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The Rev. Dr. Moore, in 1706, bequeathed £200, directing the interest to be applied in teaching poor children.
