WOUGHTON-on-the-GREEN, a parish in the hundred
of NEWPORT, county of BUCKINGHAM, 2 miles
(N. by W.) from Fenny-Stratford, containing 299 inhabitants.
The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry
of Buckingham, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the
king's books at £ 16. 9. 7., and in the patronage of the
Rev. Francis Rose. The church is dedicated-to St. Mary.
A branch of the river Ouse bounds the parish on the
east, and the Grand Junction canal passes through it.
