WRAGBY, a parish comprising the townships of West Hardwick, Hasle, Hill-top, and Hurstwick with Nostal, in the upper division of the wapentake of OSGOLDCROSS, and the townships of Ryhill and Winterset, in the wapentake of STAINCROSS, West riding of the county of YORK, 5 miles (S. W.) from Pontefract, and containing 660 inhabitants. The living is a donative, in the patronage of C.Winn, Esq. The church, dedicated to St. Michael, is principally in the later style of English architecture. An annuity of £6. 5., paid out of the revenue of the duchy of Lancaster, is applied in support of a free school for the poor children of the parish.
