WRENTHAM, a parish in the hundred of BLYTHING, county of SUFFOLK, 4 miles (NbyW.) from Southwold, containing 995 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Suffolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £21. 6. 8., and in the patronage of Miss Buckle. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas. There is a place of worship for Independents. William Wotton, a learned divine, was born here, in 1666; he died in 1726.
