WYERSDALE (NETHER), a township in the parish
of GARSTANG, hundred of AMOUNDERNESS, county
palatine of LANCASTER, 4 miles (N. N. E.) from Garstang,
containing 800 inhabitants. Margaret Blackburn,
in 1718, bequeathed £40, directing the interest
to be applied in teaching poor children; and at
Scorton, in this township, thirty other children are
educated, at small charges, in a school erected by subscription.
