WYKE-REGIS, a parish in the liberty of WYKEREGIS-and-ETWALL, Dorchester division of the county of DORSET, 1 mile (W. S. W.) from Weymouth, containing 914 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, with the perpetual curacy of Weymouth annexed, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at £19. 7- !, and in the patronage of the Bishop of Winchester. The church, dedicated to All Saints, is a large and ancient pile, with a lofty embattled tower.. It is the mother church of Weymouth, and the usual burial-place of its inhabitants. At Smallmouth, in this parish, is a ferry to the Isle of Portland.
