WYMONDLEY (GREAT), a parish in the hundred of BROADWATER, county of HERTFORD, 2 miles (B. by S.) from Hitchin, containing 329 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, with that of Ippolitts united, in the archdeaconry of Huntingdon, and diocese of Lincoln, and in the patronage of the Master and Fellows of Trinity College, Cambridge. The church is ancient, having a Norman arch between the nave and the chancel, with an embattled tower. The manor is held by the service of cup-bearer to the kings of England, at their coronation.
