WYRLEY (LITTLE), a township in the parish of
NORTON-under-CANNOCK, southern division of the hundred
of OFFLOW, county of STAFFORD, 7 miles (W.
S. W.) from Lichfield; the population is returned with
the parish. Several of the inhabitants are employed in
the Brownhill coal mine, the shaft of which is ninety
yards in depth, and the strata three yards thick.
