YANWATH, a township, joint with Eamont-Bridge,
in the parish of BARTON, WEST ward, county of WESTMORLAND,
2 miles (S. by W,) from Penrith, containing,
with Eamont-Bridge, 244 inhabitants. The ancient
hall, a quadrangular castellated building, is now occupied
as a farm-house, and about a mile from it are
vestiges of a circular camp, called Castle Steads.
