YARNTON, or YARINGTON, a parish in the hundred of WOOTTON, county of OXFORD, 4 miles (N. W. by N.) from Oxford, containing 273 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Oxford, rated in the king's books at £8. 5. 5., and in the patronage of Sir George Dashwood, Bart., for three turns, and of the Warden and Fellows of All Souls' College, Oxford, for one. The church is de- dicated to St. Bartholomew. From forty to fifty children are educated in a school built by William Fletcher, in 1818, and supported by voluntary subscription.
