WINTRINGHAM, a parish in the wapentake of BUCKROSE, East
riding of the county of YORK, comprising the chapelry of
Knapton and the township of Winteringham, and containing
532 inhabitants, of which number, 326 are in the township
of Winteringham, 6 miles (E. by N.) from New Malton. The
living is a donative in the patronage of Sir W.
Strickland, Bart. The church is dedicated to St. Peter.
