CLASHNESSIE, a village, in the late quoad sacra parish
of Stoer, parish of Assynt, county Sutherland,
13 miles (N. W. by W.) from Assynt; containing 194
inhabitants. This place is seated at the head of a small
bay bearing its own name, and on a promontory in
which are several lakes, and numerous indentations
round the coast. On the north-east are Oldernay bay
and island.
