COALTOWN-EAST, a village, in the parish of
Wemyss, district of Kirkcaldy, county of Fife, 4 miles
(N. E.) from Kirkcaldy; containing 165 inhabitants.
This village is in the mining district of the parish. It
is neatly built, and principally inhabited by persons engaged
in collieries, which are extensively worked, and
afford an abundant supply of fuel for the neighbourhood.
