INVER, a village, in the parish of Little-DunKELD,
county of Perth, ^ a mile (W. S. W.) from Dunkeld;
containing 106 inhabitants. This is a small
place, situated at the confluence of the rivers Tay and
Bran, and on the great Highland road from Perth to
Inverness. Before the bridge of Dunkeld was built,
here was a ferry across the Tay. The celebrated composer
of Scotch reels, Neil Gow, was a native of the village.
