MERRYSTON-WEST, a village, in the parish of
Old-Monkland, Middle ward of the county of Lanark,
1^ mile (N. E.) from Baillieston; containing 493 inhabitants.
This village, like the preceding, is situated on
the banks of the Monkland canal, and owes its late
increase in extent, and in the number of its inhabitants,
to the flourishing condition of the mines and manufactures
in its vicinity.
