ORINSAY, an island, in the former quoad sacra parish of Trumisgarry,
island and parish of North-UisT, county of Inverness; containing 102 inhabitants.
This is an isle of the Hebrides, lying between Boreray
and North Uist, and separated from the latter by a
narrow sound, which is dry at low water. The isle is
half a mile in length; the soil for the most part is sandy,
and tolerably fertile in favourable seasons.
