RIGGEND, a village, in the parish of New-Monkland,
Middle ward of the county of Lanark; containing
355 inhabitants. This is one of the numerous thriving
and increasing villages in this and neighbouring parishes,
that owe their prosperity to the establishment of coal
and iron works.
