STOBHILL, a village, in the parish of Newbattle, county of Edinburgh, 3 miles (S. S. E.) from the village of Newbattle; containing 130 inhabitants. It is a small place, situated in the southern part of the parish, and on the confines of a detached jjortion of the parish of Temple. The road from Borthwick to Cockpen passes through it. Here is a chapel, with a regular preacher, who is supported by subscription, chiefly of the neighbouring gentlemen.
