STRATHKINNESS, a village, in the parish of St-Andrew's and district of St-Andrew's, county of Fife, 2| miles (VV.) from the city of St. Andrew's; containing 490 inhabitants. This place is situated a little north of the high road from St. Andrew's to Cupar; and the vicinity is remarkable as the scene of the murder of Archbishop Sharp, who was assassinated by some Covenanters on Magus moor, a short distance south of the village, on the 3rd of May, 1679. There is a place of worship for members of the Free Church.
