CASTEL-DAUYRAN, or DYRAM (CASTELL-DWY-RAN), a chapelry, in that part of the parish of KILLYMAENLLWYD which is in the lower division of the hundred of DERLLYS, union of Narberth, county of CARMARTHEN, SOUTH WALES, 4 miles (N. E.) from Narberth, containing 85 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Carmarthen, and diocese of St. David's, and in the patronage of the Crown. This place is supposed to have taken its name from a castle which anciently stood near the chapel, called Castell Dwy Ran, both of which were possessed, in equal portions, by two sisters: of the former there are no vestiges.
