CROES, a township, joint with Berwyn, in the parish of TRiGARON, upper division of the hundred of PENARTH, county of CARDIGAN, SOUTH WALES, 4 miles (E. N. E.) from Tregaron, containing, with Berwyn, 210 inhabitants. This township, the upper part of which is wild, rugged, and mountainous, takes its name from the river Croes, which flows through it, and, after being joined by the river Berwyn, unites with the Teivy a short distance below the town of Tregaron.
