GARTHELI, a chapelry, in the parish of LLANDEWYBARN, lower division of the hundred of PENARTH, county of CARDIGAN, SOUTH WALES, 6 miles (N. by w.) from Lampeter, containing 216 inhabitants. This chapelry contains several respectable residences, and is situated on elevated ground above the Vale of the Aaron, with the Meiric brook flowing into the Teivy at the bottom, over which the prospects are pleasing and picturesque. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the arch- deaconry of Cardigan, and diocese of St. David's, endowed with £1000 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Perpetual Curate of Llandewy-Brevi. It is separately assessed for the maintenance of the poor, the average annual expenditure amounting to £51. 5.
