GLYN, a hamlet, in the parish of LLANGENDEIRN, hundred of KIDWELLY, union of CARMARTHEN and county of CARMARTHEN, SOUTH WALES, 4 miles (S. S. E.) from Carmarthen; containing 634 inhabitants. The population is returned with the parish. A branch of the Gwendraeth-Vach flows through this township, which forms the western portion of the parish. The mansion of Glyn Abbey is supposed to have been formerly a monastery; but, in consequence of various alterations, no traces of such a building are now discernible.
