HIRNIN, a hamlet, joint with Egwad, in that part of the parish of LLANEGWAD which is in the higher division of the hundred of CATHINOG, county of CARMARTHEN, SOUTH WALES, n miles (E. N. E.) from Carmarthen. The population is returned with the parish. It occupies the left bank of the Cothy, near its junction with the river Towy, where it is crossed by a bridge on the high road between Carmarthen and Llandovery. There is a slate quarry in this hamlet.
