LLANVALTEG (LLAN-FALLTEG), a parish, comprising two divisions, in the union of NARBERTH, of which one is in the lower division of the hundred of DERLLYS, county of CARMARTHEN, and the other in the hundred of DUNGLEDDY, county of PEMBROKE, SOUTH WALES, 5 miles (N. E.) froin Narberth; and containing 399 inhabitants, of whore 327 are in the county of Carmarthen, and 72 in that of Pembroke. This parish, which derives its name from the dedication of its church, is pleasantly Situated on the turnpike-road from Narberth 'to Netvt. cantle-Emlyn, near the right bank of the river Thf, which is here crossed by a bridge named Parson's-bridge, from a clergyman having been found drowned hear it on April 1st, 1792. It is bontided by LiandisL silio, Castel-Dauymn, Wenllan-Amgoed, and KillymaenlIwyd; and coinprises a tract of fend all in,. Closed, of which by far the greater part is in a state of cultivation: the portion in `Carmarthen contains 1280 acres, 'of which 940 are 'arable-, 814 pasture, and 26 woodland; and the portion in Pembroke con. tains 398 acres, of which 92 are inside, 294 pasture, and 12 wood.; the latter being retinned of the nite,. able annual value of £420. The surrounding scenery, though nbt distinguished by any striking peculiarity of feature, is generally pleasing, and the Soil, though various, is not unproductive; oak, ash, sycamore, and larch are grown, and the chief agrictilturil produab is wheat, barley, oats, and potatoes. Stone for coin= moil building purposes is quarried. The principal seats are Lan, Tegvynydil, Llwyngerreg, and Namely. The living is a discharged rectory, rated in the king% books at £4, and endowed with £200 royal bounty; present net income, £144; patron, Bishop Of St. David's. The Chard; which is dedicated to St Mallteg, and Situated in that division of the parish in the comity Of Pembroke, has been rebuilt within the last sixty years, by a parochial rate, and is a neat edifice. There' are two flay Sipco:'. in which 55 children of both sexes are instructed:it the expense of their parents; and a Sunday school, held in a diSa *enders' chapel in the neighbourhood, is resorted td by many children of this parish.
