TREWERN (TRE-WERN), a township, in the parish of BurriNoroN, within the liberties of the borough of WELSHPOOL, county of MONTGOMERY, NORTH WALES, 4 miles (N. E. by x.) from Welshpool; containing 372 inhabitants. It is situated on the right bank of the river Severn, on the road from Shrewsbury to Welshpool; and is returned at the rateable annual value of £1087. A small stream, designated by the same name as the township, here falls into the Severn. A chapel of ease, capable of accommodating 130 persons, has been lately built at an expense of £260, partly borne by voluntary contribus, and partly by a donation of £50 from the Church Pastoral Aid Society; divine service is performed every Sunday and Thursday evening. The tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge of £208, of which a sum of £155. 10. is payable to the Dean and Chapter of Christchurch, Oxford, and £60 to the perpetual curate of Buttington.
