YERBESTON, a parish, in the union and hundred of NARBERTH, county of PEMBROKE, SOUTH WALES, 4 miles (S. W.) from Narberth; containing 148 inhabitants. This parish, which is situated, near the turnpike-road leading from Pembroke to Narberth, comprises a small extent of land, all inclosed and cultivated; the return of the rateable annual value being £685. 6. 8. Culm is found in some parts of it, but is worked only for home consumption and the supply of the immediate neighbourhood. The living is a discharged rectory, rated in the king's books at £5.3. 9., endowed with £400 private benefaction and £400 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Baron de Rutzen: the church, dedicated to St. Lawrence, is not distinguished by any architectural details of importance. There is a day school, which contains about 20 children, the expense of whose instruction is defrayed by the rector, who allows the teacher a salary of £t3 per annum.
