ALBURY, (Surrey) or ALDERBURY, near Box-hill, and 4 m. from Guilford, is a fine seat of the Es. of Aylesford, purchased from the Norfolk family, whose ancestor Thomas, E. of Arundel, the famous antiquarian, built it. The r. Wye runs thro' it, and 'tis adorned with fine gardens, a vineyard, a park, and variety of fish-ponds. But that for which it is most admired is, the Hypogaeum, or fine grotto, being a passage dug quite thro' the bottom of a hill, for a furlong or more, leading into a pleasant valley.
