E. end of it, by Sir John Cornwal, out of the spoils he had taken in France. It being afterwards forfeited, it was annexed
to the crown by Hen. VIII. when Q. Cath. retired hither upon her divorce. It was given by K. Ch. II. to Robert, Ld Bruce,
who, when created E. of Alesbury, had his title of Visc. from hence, and was made hereditary high steward of the hounour
